Mount Salem man dead in south London crash

Jacob Rempel, 48, of Mount Salem died at London Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, Feb. 9, as a result of injuries he sustained in a head-on collision south of London the night before.

London Police were still investigating the crash that took place at about 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8 on Highbury Ave. S. near Glanworth Dr.

The two vehicles were traveling in opposite directions when they collided at the intersection, stated a London Police media release.

The man and a woman in the northbound vehicle were transported to the London hospital for treatment of severe injuries.

The woman was listed in critical condition.

The man and the woman in the southbound vehicle were taken to St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later released.

Sergeant Ryan Scrivens said alcohol and speed did not appear to be factors in the crash.
