MP Preston announces retirement

Elgin-Middlesex-London Conservative MP Joe Preston announced his retirement from politics at his annual barbecue held in St. Thomas on Saturday, June 28.

He will serve out the rest of his term but not run in the Oct. 19, 2015 federal election.

The day of his announcement marked Mr. Preston’s 10th anniversary as a member of parliament.

Over that time Mr. Preston won four elections.

“I am honoured to have served Elgin-Middlesex-London for the last 10 years and I would like to thank each and every one of you for your continued support,” Mr. Preston stated in a media release. “I look forward to continuing my service over the next year and a half and I promise that I will keep working hard for all of you in whatever the future may bring.”
