St. Thomas man charged for child porn

A 57-year-old St. Thomas man was arrested and charged with child pornography offences following a search warrant at a residence in the city on Tuesday, July 8.

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, the OPP Technological Crime Unit, and the St. Thomas Police Service were all involved n the investigation and the arrest.

OPP Detective Sergeant Terry Paddon of the Child Sexual Exploitation Unit said police received information that an individual had emailed child pornography which initiated the investigation.

He said a computer and related computer equipment were seized containing images of child sexual abuse.

The accused was charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of distributing child pornography.

He was held in custody awaiting a bail hearing St. Thomas court on July 10.

The investigation would continue.
