Electronics taken in Belmont break-in

Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a break-in at a Lorne Street, Belmont home that occurred sometime between 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9 and 3:35 p.m. on Sept. 10.

Elgin OPP Const. Troy Carlson said the residents weren’t home at the time and it was believed a suspect or suspects gained entry through an unlocked side window.

Once inside, the suspect or suspects removed a 46 inch Sony Bravia television, a Cobo e-reader tablet, a Hewlett-Packard laptop computer and a Hennessey 36 inch TV.

Members from the OPP Forensic Identification Services processed the scene and Elgin OPP officers canvassed the neighbourhood for witnesses.

The investigation continued and anyone with information about the break-in was encouraged to immediately contact the Elgin OPP or their nearest police service.
