Malahide candidates on the spot

Contenders in the Oct. 27 mMalahide candidatesunicipal election in Malahide answered several questions from local residents during an all-candidates meeting sponsored by the Aylmer Express on Monday night, Sept. 22 at Old Town Hall Theatre. A less than packed house witnessed a heated exchange between Malahide resident Hank Wortelboer and incumbent Deputy Mayor Jim Jenkins after Mr. Wortelboer accused some current councillors and municipal staff of lying when it came to the 2012 levy increase. The Malahide meeting was the first of four all-candidates meetings the Aylmer Express would sponsor for its coverage area. The next meeting, featuring the candidates in the Aylmer election, was scheduled for Monday, Sept. 29, at Old Town Hall Theatre starting at 7:30 p.m.
