Library to receive $40,000 Palmer Estate grant

The Aylmer library will receive a $40,000 grant from the Dorothy Palmer Estate to help youth study current and emerging technologies.

Aylmer Mayor Jack Couckuyt announced the grant during his mayor’s report near the end of the public portion of Monday night’s council meeting.

The funding was to be received by the Elgin County Library and was discussed briefly by county councillors during their Tuesday morning meeting.

Mayor Couckuyt said $15,000 of the total grant would immediately go towards buying a three dimensional printer for the current library at Old Town Hall with the remaining $25,000 to be “held in trust” until there was enough space in an Aylmer library to add more technology.
