Aylmer Fair kicks off with Kids Day

Several children along with theirFair children pets, decorated bicycles and fancy hats and costumes were on display at the 169th Aylmer Fair on Friday afternoon, Aug. 7 for the pet show and children’s special events. Children 12 and under were admitted to the fair for free that day until 6 p.m. and local dignitaries participated in the opening ceremonies in the early evening followed by the Fair Ambassador crowning. The opening day was capped off with a monster truck demonstration by “The Instigator” and the Friday Night Fiasco Car Challenge. The Cattle Barn was the venue for the annual Elgin County Holstein Club Show later that evening. The fair continued all weekend long with the gates opening at 10 a.m. each day and closing at 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 7 p.m. on Sunday. Attractions included a midway full of rides and carnival games, live music, all kinds of farm, animal and craft exhibits, horse shows, several food vendors, demolition derbies on Saturday afternoon and evening and much more.
