Kicking, throwing and going GaGa at EESS

Damian LoEESSgamesewen, 10, took a turn at the soccer penalty kick contest, one of three different activities that were offered at East Elgin Secondary School on Monday evening, April 25 during Unplug and Play Week. The other two activities held at EESS that night included a basketball free-throw contest and “GaGa Ball” for younger children. The annual Unplug and Play week in Aylmer and East Elgin, formerly known as Turn Off the Screens or Pause to Play, is organized by local volunteers led by McGregor Public School teacher Penny Hilliker. Each year the volunteers organize and stage a series of free fun activities at local venues, mostly schools, that encourage families to turn off their electronic devices and get some exercise, whether it be for their bodies or brains.
