Belmont Scotiabank closing

Belmont will lose its only bank branch, Jan. 12, 2017.

Scotiabank revealed the news in a letter to Central Elgin councillors to be considered at their meeting Tuesday night, May 24.

All accounts would be moved to the Scotiabank branch at 472 Talbot St. in St. Thomas, District Vice-President Andrew Smith wrote.

I have had an account here in Belmont for 60 years now you want me to move my account to St. Thomas were I hardly shop there. I would like you to reconsider your decision to close the ScotiaBank in Belmont. I think it should be my decision to choose were my account be transferred to which place.

  • Betting Johnson

I am very disappointed with the decision to close the Belmont branch. I have been a faithful customer since moving here in 1973. I will consider transferring our accounts to London first since that is were we shop most often. Please reconsider this plan.
