Steer-ed out of town

Aylmer Police Sergeant William Gibson reported that an 800-pound steer, newly-neutered, was chased through town by its owner and police officers on Sunday morning, June 26.

Police first received a report of a stray cow in Steen Park, but instead found only the Malahide owner, who let them know it was a steer.

Then residents started phoning in reports of the steer moving south. They caught up to it in the Melanie Drive area, but the steer broke through a wooden fence and ran toward a bush south of town, and as far as police know it hasn’t been seen since.
