Two ejected in Fairview/John Wise crash

Two passengers who weren’t wearing their seat belts were ejected from a van after it was involved in a collision with a car in the late afternoon of Tuesday, Sept. 20 at the intersection of Fairview Road and John Wise Line south of St. Thomas.

Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police Constable Adam Crewdson said the crash occurred just after 5:30 p.m.

A 1999 blue Ford van was travelling east on John Wise Line and a 2013 grey Toyota car was southbound on Fairview Road when the two vehicles collided.

There are stop signs on both sides on John Wise Line on both sides of the intersection.

Two passengers of the van, a man and a woman, were ejected “as they were not wearing their seat belts,” Const. Crewdson said.

The two ejected passengers, along with one occupant of the car, were taken to hospital by ambulance.

The woman from the van received life-threatening injuries and was listed in critical condition in hospital while the injuries to the two other occupants were termed as minor.

The intersection was closed to traffic until the next morning.

Const. Crewdson said the investigation was still in the beginning stages and charges are pending.
