Edgar “Hugh” Lester

It is with deep sorrow the family wishes to announce the passing of Edgar “Hugh” Lester, of Tillsonburg, formerly of Lions Head, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, on Monday, October 22, 2018, in his 75th year, with his loving family by his side.  Wonderful and supporting husband of 24 years to Agnes.  Devoted father to Daryl Lester and his wife Shelley of Tillsonburg, Lindsay Lester and his wife Lee-Anne of Tillsonburg, Michelle Parry of Simcoe, Mike Parry and his partner Kathy of Tillsonburg.  Fun-loving grandfather to Mia, Dayna, Emily, Hanna, Kallie, Devin, Nicole (Adam), Brittany, and Tyler (Olivia).  Great-grandfather to Morgan, Aiden, Elise, Mason, Nolan, Myra, and Maverick.  Brother to Bob Lester and his wife Pat.  Uncle to several nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his first wife Kathleen (1993), parents Fred and Marguerite Lester.  Hugh started in the tobacco industry back in the late 1960’s.  Hugh worked his way up to become CEO and president of many prominent tobacco companies, before starting his own tobacco company, Tobacco Consultants Limited, in 1991.  His vast knowledge was sought after right up until he passed.  Hugh worked hard to support his family and travelled the world to obtain it.  At Hugh’s request, cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Life for Hugh will take place at the Carriage Hall, 25 Brock St, Tillsonburg on Saturday, November 10 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.  Remembering Hugh’s generous and compassionate nature, in lieu of flowers, donations to Ronald McDonald House, can be made by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) who have been entrusted with Hugh’s arrangements.
