Gary Maurice Hughson
HUGHSON, Gary Maurice of St. Thomas, passed away at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, June 14th, 2019, at the age of 60. Beloved son of Joyce (Moore) Hughson and the late Gordon Hughson. Dearly loved brother of Pat Ramsden (Bob), Allan Hughson (Kim) and Grant Hughson. Cherished uncle of Bryan (Ali), Andrew (Kelsey), Becky (Kurt), Brooke (Lonnie), Emily (Scott), Ali, Matt (Miranda), Jennifer (Cam), Kathleen and Laura (Alex). Lovingly remembered by several great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, dear friends, his staff at the funeral home and his four-legged companion, Gilligan. Gary was born in St. Thomas on December 16th, 1958. He co-owned and operated Williams Funeral Home in St. Thomas with brother, Allan and formerly with his father, Gord. Gary was Past President of the St. Thomas Optimist Club, Past President of the Western Ontario Funeral Service Association, a Past Chairman of the Ducks Unlimited St. Thomas Dinner and Auction, a former director with the Canadian Mental Health Association, a member of the St. Thomas Talbot Lodge #44 A.F. And A.M., London Lodge of Perfection, London Chapter Rose Croix, Moore Sovereign Consistory Hamilton and Mocha Shrine Temple, St. Thomas. He was a former member of the St. Thomas Golf and Country Club and the St. Thomas Curling Club. Gary was an avid sports fan, and also enjoyed travelling with family and friends and his many scuba diving adventures. Gary will forever be remembered for his quick wit, kind , gentle hearted nature and love of animals big and small. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, St. Thomas where public visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 18th. 2019 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A private family service will be held on Wednesday, with interment to follow in Union United Church Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital Foundation or charity of choice.
