VANHAPPEN, John of Aylmer passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Friday, April 19, 2019 in his 91st year. Beloved husband of Jackie (VanGerwen) Van Happen. Dear father of Lynn Baer (Mike) of St. Thomas, Martin and Linda Van Happen of Cold Lake Alberta, Wilma and Stewart Brooks of Brownsville, Cathy Van Happen(Kevin) of Otterville, John and Jackie Van Happen of R.R.1, Eden. Loving grandfather of Ryan (Arakua), Devon, Dana, Chris (Jessica), John (Tamara), David (Kalie), Justin (Laura), Kyle (Melanie), Tyler (Cassandra), Brennan (Jenny), Chad, Cale (Catina), Jacklyn (Justin), Johnie (Nick), Carley and Cory. Also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, a brother Wim, a sister Mien, a sister-in-law Dorie and a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by 2 sisters and 5 brothers. Born in Geldrop, The Netherlands on December 25, 1928, son of the late Johannus and Mechelina (Beks) Van Happen. He came to Canada with his family in 1968. John operated the North Hall Snack Bar. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church and for a number of years sang in the Choir. Visitation at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows R.C. Church, Aylmer on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 10 a.m. Interment, Queen of Peace Cemetery. Donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation would be appreciated.
