Mildred Susan (nee Perry) Slaght

SLAGHT, Mildred Susan (née Perry) of Terrace Lodge, Aylmer and formerly of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at University Hospital, London on Thursday, March 5th, 2020, at the age of 85. Beloved wife and best friend of the late Wilfred “Wilf” Slaght (2016).  Dearly loved father of Frank Slaght and his wife Norma of St. Thomas, Debra “Deb” (Slaght) Mullen and her husband Tom of Horseshoe Bay, Texas and Jack Slaght and wife Colleen of Chatham. Loving grandmother of Steven Slaght of St Thomas, Stacey Robinson of St Thomas, Lydia Mullen of Austin, Texas, Alicia Ritcey and her husband Nolan Ritcey of New York , NY, Celine, Charlotte and Kyle of Chatham. Step- grandchildren Rebecca (Knapp) Wager and husband Derek of Kitchener and Kristen Knapp of Toronto. Loving great-grandmother of Karissa Mackay of Hamilton and Reece Robinson of St Thomas. Predeceased by her siblings, Ruby Hayman, Bernice Lunn, Eva Stott, Elmore Perry and Clifford Perry. Lovingly remembered by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mildred was born in Aylmer, Ontario on March 24th, 1934, daughter of the late Harry and Pearl (Powers) Perry. She was retired from Wool Co. Department Store in Chatham. Mildred was a former member of First United Church, St. Thomas. A Memorial Service to celebrate Mildred’s life will be held at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, St. Thomas on Saturday, March 14th, 2020 at 1:00pm. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00-1:00pm. Cremation has taken place with interment of ashes in Aylmer Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Elgin-St. Thomas.
