Robert Van Velzer
Van Velzer, Robert of St. Thomas passed away at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Saturday March 30th, 2019 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of over 65 years of the late Doris (Somerville) Van Velzer and loved father of James and his wife Angela Van Velzer of Dorchester. Predeceased by his daughter Sandra Hales (1996) and her husband the late Herb Hales and by his son Kenneth Van Velzer (2002). Proud grandfather of Robert, Joshua and Emma. Dear brother of Margaret Kenny of Pembroke and is predeceased by siblings Don , Stan and Nora Brooks. Sadly missed by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Robert was born May 6th, 1930 in St. Thomas the son of the late Fred and Elva (Williams) Van Velzer. He was retired from Hartz Canada and was a longtime member of Dexter United Church and the Dexter Community.
Resting at Williams Funeral Home 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Union Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. Donations can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
