Toxic gas emergency ends in Bayham
Bayham announced Wednesday, May 28, that a state of emergency, declared because a former natural gas well northwest of Port Burwell was leaking potentially lethal hydrogen sulphide gas, had come to an end.
A contractor had found the original well bore and stopped the flow of sulphur water which, on contact with the air, was creating the toxic gas.
With the well plugged, Orchard Line has been re-opened to traffic.
