Funnel cloud reported near Port Bruce

A seasonal resident of Port Bruce and her partner saw a funnel cloud on Lake Erie off of the lakeside hamlet on Thursday morning, July 3.

Ann Graham and her partner Dave Hohnstein were fishing in their power boat at about 10:30 a.m. when they witnessed what she described as a “funnel cloud.”

Environment Canada Warning Preparedness Meteorologist Geoff Coulson said the Ms. Graham’s account was the first report of a funnel cloud seen during a “severe storm cell” that crossed the Aylmer area that morning.

No damage was reported from what Mr. Coulson believed to be a “water spout” and there were no reports that it hit land.
