“Serious” crash closes Sunset Road

Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police closed Sunset Road by Roberts Line north of Port Stanley after a “serious” two-vehicle crash that occurred between a large tractor and a motorcycle at about 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7.

Middlesex County OPP Constable Laurie Houghton said both riders of the motorcycle were transported to area hospitals, one by ambulance and the other by air ambulance.

Police had closed Sunset Road closed between Roberts Line and Sparta Line for the investigation and asked that drivers avoid the area and find alternate routes.

“Information was received that there were a number of witnesses in the area when the collision occurred,” Const. Houghton said.

She encouraged anyone with information about the collision to contact the Elgin OPP.
