Two injured in farm-related crash
Two occupants of a car were taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries following a collision with a Jeep pulling a tobacco trailer in the Jaffa area just before lunch on Thursday, Sept. 4.
Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police Constable Troy Carlson said the collision occurred at 11:33 a.m. on John Wise Line just east of Springwater Road.
The Jeep, driven by a 26-year-old man from Trinidad, and the trailer were travelling west on John Wise Line and was followed by a Chrysler car.
Const. Carlson said the Chrysler pulled out to pass the Jeep and trailer as the Jeep was starting to turn left (south) into a field.
The Chrysler ran into the Jeep and trailer causing extensive damage to the car and minor damage to the Jeep and trailer.
The 69-year-old driver of the Chrysler, from Vienna, Ontario, along with her 15-year-old female passenger from Denmark suffered minor injuries and were treated and released from hospital.
The driver of the Jeep was not injured in the collision.
Const. Carlson said the investigation continued, all parties were wearing seatbelts and neither distracted driving nor alcohol were factors.
