No way seen to cut Elgin OPP costs
With a new billing model implemented this year by Ontario Provincial Police, the Elgin Group Police Services Board seems to have no way to reduce local costs.
At a meeting Wednesday, Jan. 21, board members were told by Elgin Administrator Mark McDonald that the group had no “enhancements,” basically additional police officers or equipment, beyond what the province required it to have, so those couldn’t be cut.
“It is a template contract. The numbers have been put out there, and those are the numbers.”
