Avro Arrow exhibit opens at County Museum
The new Elgin County Museum exhibit, The Avro Arrow: A Dream Denied, officially opened on Friday, Feb. 6 to a packed gallery. Those attending listened to Port Stanley’s Andrew Hibbert talk about his experiences trying to find the test models of the aircraft that are believed to be at the bottom of Lake Ontario off Point Petre (near Belleville). The travelling exhibit from the West Parry Sound Museum featuring several artefacts and related information about the Canadian jet fighter program that was ended abruptly by the federal government to great controversy in the late 1950s during the Cold War continues until April 24. The Elgin County Museum is on the fourth floor of the County administrative building located south of St. Thomas along Sunset Drive.
