Snowmobiler airlifted to London hospital

A male snowmobiler was airlifted to a London hospital following a crash with a minivan on Hacienda Road south of Dingle Line northeast of Aylmer on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 22. A Malahide firefighter who did not wish to be identified said the emergency call was received at about 1:30 p.m. This photo was taken shortly before 3 p.m. Elgin County OPP Constable Mike Szusz could not comment further on the circumstances that led to the crash and could not confirm how serious the snowmobile operator’s injuries were. He did confirm that the snowmobiler was alone on his machine and there was only a driver in the minivan. Const. Szusz did not know how much longer Hacienda Road would be closed to traffic during the investigation. If the snowmobile operator’s injuries were not life threatening, Hacienda Road would reopen almost immediately. If his injuries were more critical, further investigators would be brought in and the road would remain closed for most of the rest of the day and evening.
