Square dancers kick up heels in Springfield
Linda and Tom Charlton of Aylmer, seen on the right, were among about 100 members of the Square and Round Dancers of South Western Ontario (SWOSDA) from throughout the region who gathered at Malahide Community Place in Springfield on Saturday, Jan. 23 for some dancing fun hosted by the Swing’n Wheels camping and square dancing club. The Charltons were one of five couples who led the dancing that day and Mr. Charlton called some of the square dancing patterns. SWOSDA is in the midst of planning to host the Canadian National Square and Round Dance Convention at the London Convention Centre from July 19-21, 2018. Dancers from around the world will attend the event which SWOSDA last hosted in 2008. That year, close to 3,000 dancers participated.
