Bronze hockey medals for EESS girls, boys

East Elgin Secondary School players  Chelsea Zavitz, left, Amanda VanRoestel, Mikaela Moore, Hannah DeCoutere and Brittany Kirk celebrated after tying a WOSSAA “AAA” girls hockey bronze-medal game against London Catholic Central High at 3-3 in the third period at East Elgin Community Complex on Monday, Feb. 29. The goal forced sudden-death overtime, with EESS tallying again to win the game. Meanwhile, in London, the EESS boys hockey team lost its opening WOSSAA game and was to meet CCH in the bronze-medal game, but East Elgin won by default after Catholic Central was disqualified for having an illegal player on its roster.
