Power out in Aylmer area for four hours
An over four hour power outage that started at about 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 22 affected an estimated 11,000 electricity customers in the Aylmer region.
Tim Stafford of Hydro One confirmed a failed cross arm on a twin pole structure near Lyons north of Aylmer caused the power outage.
He said 4,100 rural Hydro One customers were affected by the damaged equipment that caused a 115,000 volt line to fail that supplies electricity to Aylmer and Tillsonburg.
He said some areas in Aylmer were without power for four hours while Tillsonburg customers experienced an about one hour outage.
Mr. Stafford added electricity customers were restored in stages and the equipment was damaged by lightning that occurred during the previous night’s thunderstorm.
