Showing Canada Day colours in Port Burwell
Sandy and Barry Keep set up their lawn chairs right by the side of the road along Wellington Street in Port Burwell for the Canada Day parade going by late Friday morning, July 1. The Canada Day festivities in Port Burwell included the parade, the singing of O Canada and the raising of the Canadian flag at the cenotaph, speeches by local dignitaries, the unveiling of a new plaque by the Fred Bodsworth Public Library of Port Burwell in honour of the village’s founder Mahlon Burwell, a free hot dog barbecue and cupcakes for children at the gazebo next to the library along with live music and children’s activities at the Marine Museum.
