Dead man identified in Port Bruce trailer fire

Eight days after the discovery, Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 28 identified the 50-year-old man who was found dead next to a burning mobile home in Port Bruce as Timothy James of Malahide Township.

A Malahide Fire Department spokesman said volunteer firefighters were called to a fire at a trailer within Beelin Trailer Park at 49508 Dexter Line in Port Bruce at 6:27 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

“Nothing at this time indicates that the death is suspicious in nature,” Elgin OPP Constable Adam Crewdson said on Wednesday, Sept. 28 when identifying Mr. James as the man found dead next to the trailer.

A cause of death was not released by the Elgin OPP.

The cause of the fire was also not released although the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office had been called in to help with the investigation.
