Attorney General issues cease and desist order against Church of God

The Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General has issued a “cease and desist letter naming any pastors, elders and directors of the Church of God” on John Street North in Aylmer, town police announced on Thursday, Feb. 4.

Deputy Chief Nick Novacich said the letter was served on church Pastor Henry Hildebrandt on Thursday morning.

The letter was an initiative of the ministry, and had not been requested by Aylmer Police, Deputy Chief Novacich stated.

The letter, he continued, outlined that the church was in contravention of emergency orders made under the Re-Opening Ontario Act, Regulation 82/20.

“The letter requests that the Aylmer Church of God and anyone acting on its behalf immediately cease holding gatherings of more than 10 people, unless those gatherings are drive-in services only and comply with all other applicable provisions of Regulation 82/20.

“Section 9 of the Act permits the Crown to commence an application in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice for a court order restraining Aylmer Church of God, and anyone acting on its behalf, from contravening Regulation 82/20.”

Why aren’t the other churches in Aylmer voicing concern for the Church of God in the constant harassment by a god-hating group and the extreme bias and heavy handed methods by the Aylmer police?

The following claims in your post have no basis at all in reality

      – that the Aylmer Police Service is a “god-hating” group
      – that the APS shows “extreme bias”
      – that the APS is employing “heavy handed methods”

      Hyperbole anyone?

Henry Hildebrandt has been actively attempting to recruit fellow church leaders to cause an uprising against authorities for some time. The leaders from the churches approached have not found biblical and spiritual basis for them to become involved, nor can they come to defense as what is happening is not based on any Christ-like behaviours. These rules that are in place are only temporary, this illness is temporary. I am looking forward to the day that I can go and worship with fellow believers. My concern is that Henry Hildebrandt possibly is displaying signs of a mental illness, which is prevalent in many religious extremists. My concern is for the many young children that are subject to these emotional abuses that have been spoken of from former members.

If it wasn’t’ for the determination displayed by the Church of God, Christianity would have ended many centuries ago.
We are all part of the body of Christ and should at least voice concern for the way the some god-hating persons are harassing this church.
At our door, this same godless attitude want to stop Biblical teaching in churches on subjects like homosexuality, conversion therapy etc.
The apostle Paul was accused of mental illness too – “much learning is driving you mad”

Based on your reply, I assume you’ve just completely forgotten about the existence of the Roman Catholic Church? Or the myriad of other denominations that have broken or severed off over the many centuries of religious fluidity? Surely any of those branches of Christianity would have done something to ensure the survival of the religion. Martin Luther gave it the old college try.

What is more shocking in your response is that you appear to have given up God altogether. Sad 🙁

Are you telling me that an all-powerful being that

          – created the universe
          – created everything in that universe
          – created Earth
          – created everything on that Earth (not dinosaurs though, because of the lack of archaeologists hanging around 2,000 years ago)
          – directly interfered with humanity – mass murders, mass extinction level events, the rape and impregnation of a teenaged girl, over the course of centuries..

So this God can do all of those things I listed above (and then some), but for whatever reason that God just sort of gave up after the death of it’s rape-spawn? No sign, sight, nor hint of this God afterwards. It just ups and disappears, leaving it’s legacy in the hands of a rag-tag bunch of kids that just didn’t like Jews or Romans?

Far be it from me to question the staying-power of an entity like that, but I would imagine any God (not just yours, but the infinite number of Gods that have to exist based on the logic espoused by any religion ever to cross the lips/ears/minds of people over time), would want to stick around a bit more to keep an eye on what it created.

And yet… “If it wasn’t’ for the determination displayed by the Church of God, Christianity would have ended many centuries ago”

This makes no sense, and I’ve been up to my neck in crazy talking points the last year or so.

The apostle Paul was accused of mental illness too – “much learning is driving you mad”

If someone told you that the dead can rise, you’d question their sanity as well.

A lot of neat, fun, and interesting stories in Christian theology.
