Erwin Hofmann

1931 – 2025

HOFMANN, Erwin – Erwin passed away peacefully at Woodingford Lodge in Tillsonburg, surrounded by his loving daughters Janet, Doris, and Mary, on Monday, March 3, 2025, a week shy of his 94th birthday. Predeceased by his loving wife, Mary (2010), parents Ewald and Berta, brother Kurt, grandsons Thomas Beech and Kurt Racki, and his two sons-in-law Dave Beech and Will Racki. Erwin will be greatly missed by daughters, Janet Hofmann, Doris Racki (late Will), and Mary Beech (late Dave). Cherished Opa to Byron Racki, Jeff Beech (Kelly), Kevin Beech, and Lisa Savard (Matt) and to great-grandchildren Ava and Audrey Beech and Jacob and Liam Savard. He will also be missed by several nieces, nephews and cousins here and in Germany.

Erwin was born in Germany on March 12, 1931. As a young man in Germany, he was an equestrian rider and belonged to a dance group.  He met his wife, Mary, after coming to Canada. Together they settled in the Aylmer area, where they resided for many years. Erwin worked at the Carnation Milk factory, on many farms, and at the Imperial Tobacco factory. He enjoyed music, dancing, playing euchre, bowling, fishing, hunting, golfing, and playing hockey. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed watching nature shows. Mary and Erwin loved travelling throughout Europe and taking bus trips with friends.

In keeping with Erwin’s expressed wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Erwin’s life will take place at a later date.
