Richard Foster

Foster, Charles “Richard” passed away peacefully at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the age of 81. His best friend and beloved wife Helen (Murphy) Foster was by his side. Richard was the adored father of Lisa Foster (Doug), Richard Foster (Michele) and Julian Foster (Jessica). Cherished Grandpa and Papa to Nathan (Gabrielle), Emily, Samuel, Cormac, Naomi, Sam, and Lilly. Great Grandpa to Ruth. Special uncle to many nieces and nephews in Canada, the U.S. and Ireland. Richard was born in St. Thomas, Ontario on September 20, 1943, to William Charles Foster (deceased) and Mildred (Earhart) Foster (deceased). Eldest brother to Gary, and Danny (deceased). Richard will be sadly missed by sisters-in-law Sr. Anna Marie Murphy of South Africa, Kathleen O’Dowd, Marie Murphy, Agatha Murphy of Ireland, and Carole Murphy of the U.S. On September 4, 1971, Richard married Helen, the love of his life. After an early retirement from the Talbotville Ford Plant, Richard started renovating houses and building furniture. He was a talented artist and his interests and hobbies also included drag racing and gardening, and in his later years fishing, which he enjoyed with his dear friend Frank. He was a great storyteller and loved to make everyone laugh. Richard and Helen enjoyed travelling the world in their retirement years and shared many adventures with special friends Bill and Deirdre Walker, Lynn and Bernie Ruddick, and Tom and Betty Cox. We are deeply grateful to the wonderful staff at the St.Thomas Elgin General Hospital, especially nurses Anna and Lindy. Thank you, Michele Menard-Foster and Joan (Johanna) Halabi, for all your love and support to mom and dad during his hospital stay.
