Library tenders opened

Tenders for the construction of the new and expanded Aylmer library were opened on Thursday, March 27 and the bids came in close to the staff estimate of $2.6-million.

The lowest bid of $2.419-million was submitted by Graceview Enterprises of Belmont, the company that constructed the Aylmer Trillium Park condominium building on the southwest corner of the intersection of John Street South and Sydenham Street across the road from where the new proposed library would be built.

The highest bid was $2.84-million.

Six of the nine bids submitted were between $2.4-million and $2.6-million.

Representatives with Windsor’s Archon Architect and town staff were expected to review the proposals and provide a report with recommendations to council for the April 7 meeting.
