Currie leads in race for Aylmer mayor

In what’s shaping up to be a huge upset, with 11 polls reporting out of 13, challenger Greg Currie has a tremendous lead in the race to become Aylmer’s new mayor.

He has 832 votes to 327 for incumbent Jack Couckuyt and 167 for former Mayor Bob Habkirk.

In the race for deputy mayor, Mary French leads with 604 votes to 432 for incumbent Gerry Richer and 213 for Doug Avram.

If voting trends continue as they are, Sheri Andrews, incumbent Peter Barbour, Barbara Ann Laur, Ted McDonald and incumbent Arthur Oslach will be councillors for the next term.

Incumbents David LaPointe, John Vandermeersch and Judi Wright are trailing, followed by Bill Murch.
