Bayham man killed in Simcoe crash

A 63-year-old unnamed Bayham man was killed after the pickup truck he was driving rear-ended another vehicle in Simcoe on Thursday morning, Nov. 27.

Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police Constable Ed Sanchuk said the crash occurred at about 11:35 a.m. on Norfolk Street North in Simcoe.

He said the Bayham man was driving northbound when his truck collided with the back of another vehicle travelling in the same direction.

His truck left the roadway, entered the west ditch and struck a hydro pole.

The Norfolk OPP, Norfolk County Fire Services and Norfolk County Paramedics responded to the collision scene.

The Bayham man was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

“The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin,” Const. Sanchuk said.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) was assisting with the investigation.

Norfolk Street North between Concessions 13 and 14 was closed for about six hours the investigation.
