Twinems make special hometown appearance

Joel Twinem, second from leTwinemft, led players from the Double J Fabrication U-7 soccer team through a series of drills before their East Elgin Youth Soccer League game at Columbus Field south of Aylmer on Thursday evening, July 2. Practicing dribbling the ball by Joel were Double J Fabrication players Faith Abell, left, Jonathon Redecop, Draydon Morgan and Morgan Siemens. Joel and his sister Laura made the special appearance while she was visiting her family in the Aylmer area as she now lives in Texas. The siblings attended Springfield and Summers Corners public schools and then graduated from East Elgin Secondary School. Laura and Joel started their soccer careers with East Elgin Youth Soccer and have since had successful university soccer careers. Laura attended Texas A&M University and played soccer for Texas A&M International. She also played in the Women’s United Soccer League for the London Gryphons. Laura recently graduated with a nursing degree from Texas A&M and plans on staying in Texas with her soon to be husband. Joel currently plays for FC London in the Professional Development League and also plays for Cedarville University in Ohio for Division II Men’s Soccer. He had previously played for Pedra Blanca, an U-17 Brazilian Professional team.
