Terrace Lodge replacement gets formal provincial okay
Malahide Mayor David Mennill told township council members Thursday, June 16, that earlier that day he and Deputy Mayor Mike Wolfe had learned Elgin County had received formal approval in writing from the Ontario government for the replacement of Terrace Lodge long-term care home, just east of Aylmer, with a brand new facility.
The county had previously received informal word the replacement would be partly funded by the province, but this was the first time that had come in writing.
Mayor Mennill said the letter from the province didn’t go into details, but he hoped construction would begin this autumn.
