Sparking an interest in the outdoors

Penny Julian of Beachville helped her daughter Evelyn, 8, as they tried to get a spark for starting a campfire at the East Elgin Sportsmen’s Association north of Summers Corners on Saturday, Sept. 10. Evelyn was among 60 participants 8 through 15 years old in the club’s first-even Youth Outdoor Day of Adventure. Youngsters also learned fishing, archery and target-shooting skills.
