Veterinarian takes pie in face for Farley Foundation

pieinfaceDr. Amanda Wiltsie-Thoonen, one of four small animal veterinarians at Imperial Road Animal Hospital in Aylmer, had a pie pushed into her face by her sons Drew, 8, and Gerritt, 6, (not pictured) on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 8 as part of a campaign the clinic held to raise money for the Farley Foundation. Donation jars were put out on the counter with the names of each of the small animal veterinarians with a sign asking visitors to place money in the jar representing their favourite one. Dr. Wiltsie-Thoonen won that contest which raised over $400. The animal clinic will continue to raise money for the Farley Foundation until “Santa Paws” visits on Saturday, Nov. 26 from 9-11:30 a.m. The Farley Foundation assists helps animal clinic clients pay for non-elective or emergency medical care for pets. Veterinarians apply to the Farley Foundation on behalf of eligible pet owners including the disabled, seniors, government social benefit recipients and women at risk of abuse entering emergency shelters. The flavour of the pie in Dr. Wiltsie-Thoonen’s face? Banana cream, her favourite.
