Andrew Moerman

MOERMAN, “Andrew” (August 14, 1941 – July 11, 2023)

It is with sadness, that we the Moerman family wish to announce the sudden, but peaceful, passing of our much-loved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many, “Andrew” Moerman, a resident of Caressant Care Nursing Home, Woodstock, on July 11th, 2023, in his 82nd year. Andrew was born in Belgium, he will be remembered as a hardworking Tobacco Farmer, and later was employed at Townsend Lumber, retiring after 10 years of service. Andrew will be remembered by many as a die-hard sports fan, especially hockey. He spent countless hours at local arenas watching minor hockey and cheering on the local teams. Andrew was a member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Tillsonburg. Predeceased by his wife Donna (nee Lawrence) Moerman (Feb. 11, 1994). Always a loving father and father-in-law to: Janet Moerman (Chester Cebulak), of Langton; Richard Moerman (Danelle Vontreuenfels), of Vittoria. Always a caring grandfather to Brandon Hodgson (Cassie), Curtis Hodgson (Amy) and to his step-grandchildren Zacheriah, Hailley (Isaak Wall), and Chantal (Tristian). Special great-grandfather to Caleb Wall. Survived by his siblings Mary (Julius Keskeloot), of New Brunswick; Simonne Van Den Bilke (late husband Prosper), of Dorchester; Madeliene (Walter Verstraeten), of Aylmer; Margaret Metzenberg (late Tony), of Ingersoll; sister-in-law Marie Moerman, of Aylmer. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Rene and Emma Moerman; brother Roger Moerman; brother Harry Moerman (late wife Annie).

Friends, neighbours, and relatives were invited to attend a public visitation held on Tuesday, July 18th, 2023, between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg. A Funeral Liturgy of Christian Burial followed on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, by Rev. Fr. Seejo John, of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Tillsonburg. Burial followed in the Tillsonburg Cemetery.
