Cornelius Peters

Peters, Cornelius of Aylmer passed away peacefully with his family by his side at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Sunday, March 10, 2024. He was 90 years old.  Beloved husband of Mary (Dyck) Peters of 66 years. Dear father of Isaac Peters, Jake Peters(Cindy), Lena Schultz(Tony) and Betty Peters. Loving grandfather of Maxine(Mike), Zachary(Jordan), Avery, Kim(Calvin), Connie, Brent(Kate), Michael(Esther), Angela(John), Stuart(Amanda), Gerald, Jason, Monica and Kelsey(Jack). He will be missed by his great-grandchildren Carley, Austin, Cate, Kasey, Luke, Milena, Roy, Monty, Flint and Quinton. Survived by his brother David Peters(Sara) and sisters-in-law Mary Peters and Anna Peters. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his great-grandchildren Elianna, Eli-Grace and brothers Jacob(Judith), Isaac, Abram and sister Margaretha(Johan).  Born in Chihuahua, Mexico on February 2, 1934 son of the late Jacob and Elizabeth(Klassen) Peters.

Upon the confession of his faith, Cornelius was baptized in 1956, he was a founding member of Bradley Street Church of God. Together with his brothers, he founded Peters Brothers Paving. Furthering Cornelius’ entrepreneurial spirit, in 1966 he established a cucumber grading station for Bick’s Pickles and invented the ACCU grader and harvesting machine for cucumbers. In 1971, he started Peters Tortillas at Walker Road. In recent years, he established a thriving farming community of several thousand acres now called Saladas in Chihuahua, Mexico.

Visitation will be held at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Friday from 5-8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Bradley Street Church of God, Aylmer on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 11:00 am. Interment, Aylmer Cemetery. Share memories or condolences at kebbelfuneralhome.com
