Jean (nee Gray) Crooker

CROOKER, Jean (nee Gray) of St. Thomas passed away at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Sunday April 14, 2019 at age 93, joining her beloved husband Carman Crooker (predeceased in 2006) to continue their great love story together forever.  Sister of Anna Cook (Bob), Mary Jane Dunn (Jim), Dick (Carol), Pat (Kathy).  Predeceased, brothers George, Jack, Paul, Michael, Jim and sisters Deanna, Bette Lou and Lenore.  Also predeceased by sister-in-law Dorothy Barney and brothers-in-law Earl and Albert Crooker. Jean was born in Aylmer Ontario on January 15, 1926, the daughter of the late George Russell and Rose (Millard) Gray.  Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews, and her “kids” Paula (Jerry) and Sharon (Craig).  Jean worked at the Ontario Hospital in St. Thomas for 24 years, and was co-owner of Crooker Shoe Repair with her husband.  It was Jean’s request that her body be donated to science, and arrangements have been made with the University of Waterloo.  Also, as per Jean’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.    Special thanks to staff at Metcalfe Gardens and St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital for all they have done for Jean over the years.  Donations may be made in her memory to St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital or Animal Aide of St. Thomas Elgin (in honour of her cherished companion Skittles).  Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, St. Thomas in charge of arrangements.
