Max “Bud” Gavey

Max “Bud” Morgan Gavey

Oct. 2, 1940 – Aug. 15, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Bud passed away on August 15, 2023, after a very short stay at KGH. While Bud recently battled a serious, and sometimes painful, affliction his passing was quiet, without pain, all while being held and comforted by several family members.

Bud’s legacy and stories will certainly survive him. Being known as a consummate storyteller, many of us, especially his grandchildren, will carry on and share Bud’s life events for time to come. Bud’s work-life included banking services, operating hotels and restaurants, window tinting, and finally settled into the property management industry. Bud was truly a man’s man, enjoying playing hockey, baseball, and golf, fishing, bowling, and hunting during every season/year. Most of all, Bud cherished his family, wanting only the best for each family member, and hopefully helping each of them achieve their personal goals.

Bud is survived by his wife, Beverly (Dianne) (Johns) Gavey of 58 years, daughters Terry McKenna and Kimberly (Ralph) Marcus, Grandchildren Paige, Ryan, Samantha, and Jessica, Step- Grandchildren Krysten, Alyssa, Justin, and Meghan, and Step-Great Grandchildren Logan, RyLee, Nora, Mia, Jack, and Ellie.

Family will receive relatives and friends at A Celebration of Life which has been planned for Sunday, August 20, 2023, between the hours of 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM, and which will be held at the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Home-Township Chapel, located at 435 Davis Drive, Kingston, ON K7M 8L9, 613.546.5150. Light refreshments will be served.

If desired, and in lieu of flowers, please feel free to honor Bud’s lifetime with a donation made to either the Kingston Humane Society or Partners in Mission Food Bank, in Kingston
