Robert “Bob” Foutre

FOUTRE, Robert Remi Pieter (Dec. 10, 1934 – Sept. 22, 2022) –

Our family is heartbroken to announce the death of our father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Robert “Bob” Foutre. Bob passed peacefully, at the VON Sakura House, Woodstock, on September 22, 2022, with his children by his side.

Bob was born on December 10, 1934, to the late Frank and Valentine Foutre. He lived on the family farm in Corinth from the age of 3, until the spring of 2022. He attended schools locally, where he excelled academically and athletically. Bob married the love of his life Jeanne Grass and the two of them settled on the farm to grow tobacco. It was here that they raised their family. Bob had a self-taught talent for carpentry and woodworking. When most people thought about retirement, Bob and his treasured friend, the late Gordon Craig, began the monumental task of rebuilding Mill Tales Inn, into the landmark that it is today.

Bob will be forever missed and honoured by his children, daughter Cheryl Becker and her husband Bob and son Terry Foutre and his wife Janine. He will be remembered with love by his beloved grandsons Stephen Leacock and partner Michelle Harvey and Kris Foutre and his wife Kristy. Bob’s great-grandson, Finn Leacock always brought a smile to his face. Bob is survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Joy and Jiggs Morse and Don and Ferne Nevil. Bob was predeceased by his loving wife Jeanne, in 1996 and his sister Josie (Pattyn) Van Hove in 2022.

In keeping with Bob’s expressed wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends and relatives will be received at the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg, on Wednesday, September 28th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest beside his wife in a private family service. In recognition of the wonderful care that he received at the end of his life, we ask that you consider a memorial donation to “VON Oxford” (to benefit Sakura House, in Woodstock). All who knew Bob are invited to share special memories, favourite photos or contribute memorial donations via Bob’s online tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com or by contacting the Maurice J.
