Finding the right lure

Emily Howe, 4, got right to helping her Dad Chris and Mom Jody find the right lures before casting their lines into the family pond during Family Fishing Day on Saturday morning, May 30. Sponsored by the Elgin Conservation and Hunting Heritage Association (formerly the Elgin Wild Turkey Chapter), Family Fishing Day offered free fishing for children at the Howe pond located off Rogers Road south of John Wise Line southwest of Aylmer. Lunch was also provided to children for free while adults who wanted to fish and/or have lunch were asked to pay a small fee or donation. Prizes were awarded to children up to age 17 upon bringing their freshly caught fish for measurements. Emily’s great grandparents own the farm where the fishing pond is located.
