No summer strolls on breakwater
Port Stanley residents hoping for a revival of leisurely strolls on the west breakwater in their harbour this summer will have to wait until at least this September.
Central Elgin councillors on Monday, June 8, voted unanimously to proceed this year with additional work on the breakwater, rather than waiting for two or three more years.
Physical Services Director Lloyd Perrin pointed out the work on the Lake Erie side of the breakwater would have to be in July and August of whatever year it was done in any case, when waters were calmest. So residents would be trading a future summer without their strolls for an immediate one.
