Captain Corbin spreads magic in Straffordville
Captain Corbin the pirate magician, left, had volunteer Charlie Braun help him with a trick involving a changing flag that eventually became a Jolly Roger during the Summer Reading Club finale at Straffordville Public Library on Monday afternoon, Aug. 17. About 50 children attended the last session along with some of their parents. The 109 registered participants of the Summer Reading Club finished a total of 1,497 books, far surpassing the goal of 1,200 books. Each Monday afternoon session throughout the summer attracted an average of 35 participants who enjoyed various fun activities that aimed to increase literacy skills at the same time.
