Emily Chyc, 7, played Plinko on Thursday morning, Aug. 6 and won a prize during Game Show Day, the latest Summer Reading Club free activity held at Springfield Library. Prizes included books, small toys and the chance to play other games located elsewhere in the library. The event, entitled “Come play with words,” was the third to last in the Summer Reading Club’s weekly series of themed activities for children ages 6 to 12. “Come play with food” will be the theme of the Thursday, Aug. 13 activity from 10:30-11:30 a.m. that will have children make a treat in the Malahide Community Place kitchen. The Summer Reading Club closing party is Thursday, Aug. 20 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and will feature the chance to play in a “family rock and roll band” with Brian May of Studio Arts, St. Thomas. Refreshments will also be served during the closing party.
