Wet sponges fly at McGregor PS to celebrate love of reading

incipal Charlotte Wall, right, got ready to take a swing at a wet sponge thrown by pupil Ryan Penner, left, with Aylmer Old Town Hall Library assistant Mary Wiebe looking on Thursday, Oct. 1 during a celebration of the pupils at the Aylmer school helping to surpass the library’s Summer Reading Club goal of finishing 2,015 books. Mrs. Wiebe said 276 children registered with her library’s Summer Reading Club, many of whom attend McGregor. All of the McGregor pupils who participated in the Summer Reading Club took a turn throwing a wet sponge at their Principal. The school staff members who brought the water to the celebration made sure it was warm. After the sponge tossing, the McGregor pupils and staff participated in their annual Terry Fox Run to raise money for cancer research.
