New Complex GM hired
The East Elgin Community Complex has a new general manager.
James Allen was appointed as the new general manager of the twin ice pad facility after both Aylmer and Malahide councils accepted a recommendation by the Complex Interim Board Recruitment Committee on Wednesday night, Dec. 2.
The recommendation was presented during a closed door session of a joint special council meeting that same evening that was held immediately following the monthly Complex Interim Board meeting.
Mr. Allen will start in his new role at the Complex on Friday, Dec. 18.
“James brings with him over 10 years of progressive arena operations and management experience,” Malahide Chief Administrative Officer Michelle Casavecchia-Somers wrote in an email response to a reporter. “He comes to us from the Department of Athletics at the University of Guelph where he is a Facility Supervisor and prior to holding that position he was the Supervisor of Community Arenas with the City of Kitchener and a Facility Operator with the City of Mississauga.”
The Complex general manager position had been vacant since Aug. 15.
