Learning to be a young chef at Port Burwell PS

Port Burwell Public School pupil Jayden Bishop, left, had a tough time peeling an especially strong red onion, while schoolmate Callee Nephin prepared other ingredients with help from third-year Brescia College food and nutrition student and volunteer Lindsay Dawson of Malahide during a “You’re the Chef” session on Monday, June 13. The program, organized by Elgin St. Thomas Public Health, uses school staff and other volunteers to teach youngsters how to make food that’s both good for them and tasty. Thirteen Port Burwell PS pupils are participating in the first-ever such six-week program there in May and June.
